Hi, I'm Kayla!
I paint big walls! I am a Phoenix-based artist with a passion for bringing people together through public art. My work is bright, colorful, patterned and quirky. Growing up in the desert has inspired me to find color in the places where you least expect it.
I live in a world of mismatch and imagination. Placing patterns and colors together that don’t typically “work” creates a sense of frantic tension that I thrive in. My work brings humor and whimsy together to create alternate environments. Our world is full of order and systems while I aim to disrupt these norms in hopes of encouraging others to look at aspects of daily life under a new light. Individuality is the driving force for innovation, creativity and progress in our world. My work is a brightly rendered visual representation of organized chaos. I strive to create something beautiful by way of collaboration and connection with unexpected ideas.

Kayla was born in Phoenix, Arizona and had a passion for art from the beginning. She grew up in a very creative house that encouraged independence and following your passion. Traveling and camping has always been her biggest source of inspiration. Kayla graduated from the Pratt Institute of Art and Design in Brooklyn, NY with a BFA in Painting in 2015. She is always seeking new and innovative forms of art-making. She then lived in Salt Lake City, UT and then back to Arizona for the last five years.
Kayla began work at Scottsdale Public Art in 2016 where she worked her way through multiple positions. This is where she learned how to coordinate large-scale projects and how impactful the transformation of a space can be through the power of art. This position gave Kayla the confidence to create large-scale projects of her own. She learned just how important public art is to communities and to follow her passions.
