"Not Another Bird Mural in Phoenix"
To me, the peacock is a symbol of the ability to show your colors. We all have our insecurities whether they be physical, mental, financial, etc. We all have different trials in our life and the most important thing is to brave these trials with the ability to fully be ourselves and never compromise your beliefs. Be happy and show your colors!
This project was about and for the community in Downtown Phoenix. It took me two and half months to create and getting to know the people who walk to work or walk their dogs past this parking garage everyday gave me a huge sense of pride in this City. The biggest comment I got as the days passed before the giant peacock went up was a sarcastic "this isn't going to be another bird mural, right?" I figured the name should reflect the community input. My hope is that this bird mural can be a part of Phoenix's wonderful collection of bird murals in a positive way and put a smile on people's faces.
A HUGE thank you to Courtney Larson, Cydney Guess, Taura Holland, Luke Watson, ACE Parking, and True North Studio for supporting me through this very personal project for me. Completed summer of 2019 and sponsored by True North Studio.
